Handcuffs

ASP Chain Steel Handcuffs with Tactical Security or European Pawl provide a major advance in both the design and construction or wrist restraints. Frame geometry is the result of extensive computer modeling and simulation analysis. Strength potential has been maximized through use of an interlocking, unitized frame. The cuff structure is forged from high strengh stainless steel on custom built, high speed, progressive dies. Each restraint is then overmolded with ordance grade polymer under 75 tons of preasure. The Lock Assembly is unitized and replaceable.
The Tactical Chain Handcuff was designed in the field. Input came from officers and instructors. As a result, this ASP design incorporates the practical features most requested by officers on the street. A stainless steel handcuff that weighs less than standard designs.
Since hinged handcuffs permit less movement than a chain cuff, they are generally considered to be more secure. Hinged cuffs can be used one-handed to apply pain-compliance/control techniques that are not workable with the chain type of cuff.
ASP Steel Handcuffs with Tactical Secuirty or European Pawl will provide increased control of violent subjects. Because of their conical bow geometry, the cuffs fit large subjects, yet still control small wrists. They are easily carried, rapidly applied and have a clean, smooth, finished appearance. The four point connection system allows the cuffs to fold flat and yet be worn over belts of various thicknesses. Because connecting rivets are integral with the side plate, they cannot be driven out.
As with all ASP products, the design for these Hinge Handcuffs originated in the field. ASP Trainers surveyed instructors and officers throughout the world. The most desirable handcuff features were listed and categorized. The result is a handcuff unlike any other. The design introduces features, construction and materials that are innovative, real world and strong.
An optimized frame design was achieved through the use of sophisticated computerized engineering programs. Strength potential was maximized through an optimal combination of materials, heat treatment, frame geometry and reinforcing ribs. The overmolded stainless steel frames of ASP Hinge Handcuffs flex to the side when improperly applied to reduce injury potential from excessive lateral stress.
The swivel has traditionally been the weakest part of any handcuff design. The Hinge cuff uses a pin and plate link to provide rigid frame alignment. The stainless steel links of ASP Hinge Handcuffs have a four point pivot structure to maximize handling characteristics.
ASP Rigid cuffs, handcuffs or restraints have a metal block or bar between the cuffs. Although they are bulkier to carry they permit several variations in cuffing techniques while offering another level in security. Rigid cuffs can be used one-handed to apply pain-compliance/control techniques that are not workable with the chain type of cuff. Various accessories are available to improve the security or increase the rigidity of handcuffs, including boxes that fit over the chain or hinge and can themselves be locked with a padlock.
ASP Tactical Handcuffs feature a replaceable Lock Set.
The two pawl divider plate design is virtually impossible to pick.
The three independent pawls provide an extra measure of securty against shimming.
